Acculturation

I'm writing my doctoral dissertation on international students and how they acculturate to the United States. Dr. Kim has presented a well-written and well-thought-out theory about how people become acclimated to a new culture. I've read this book just once but plan to read it through at least one more time. Communication is key in Dr. Kim's theory. She does an excellent job of explaining the various theories of acculturation that have been proposed in the last 50 years and explains how they come up lacking. Her theory and model try to compensate for these deficiencies. There is a lot to read and digest, which is why I'm not giving it 5 stars at this point. I need to read it again and reflect before I fully understand her theory. I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in finding out how people acculturate to a new culture.
